Campers will explore the basics of being on stage, including using their imaginations and learning foundational performance techniques. Through acting games, vocal exercises, movement, song, and dance, students will explore how to express characters and actions through short scenes. Crafts/prop-making add to the creative experience! This fun class culminates in a showcase for parents during the final class at the end of the week!

Campers will learn and use the actors’ tools of mind, body, and voice to create characters and scenes, and experience the journey from script to stage, taking part in rehearsals and a showcase performance for parents during the final class at the end of the week! Through acting exercises, improvisation, movement and voice work, and short scripts, campers will use their actors’ tools to bring a performance to life!

SPOTLIGHT: 
101 Dalmatians Kids and Shrek the Musical, Jr.

(Ages 8–18)

DATES: 
Mon.–Fri., July 1–12, 2024

No camp on July 4

Performance: July 12, 7 p.m.

TIMES:
9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

(includes both weeks)

Campers will be split into two groups, and each group will sing, dance, and act in a musical, beginning with auditions and casting, followed by rehearsals, and finally, performing each show for families and friends the last night of camp!  Campers young and old will supplement their work in rehearsals with age-appropriate classes as they hone their skills in acting, improv, and stagecraft, working on their actors’ tools and creating inventive pieces for their show! All campers enrolled will be cast in one of two shows: 

101 Dalmatians Kids or Shrek the Musical, Jr.

 

Note: Based on enrollment, campers will be split into two groups, and each group will work on their own musical and take classes with their age group throughout the day. Both shows will be performed back-to-back the evening of July 12.

9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

(includes all three weeks).

Campers take part in the traditional Summer on Stage experience, working as an ensemble to create, rehearse, and perform a world-premiere play in just three weeks!   Campers take exciting, age-appropriate classes in acting, improvisation, movement and dance, and stagecraft, building and refining their theatre skills. Then, under the direction of professional theatre artists, they will create, rehearse, and present original plays. These young artists will experience the fullness of theatre from developing these new plays, creating imaginative props and costumes, and acting in a live world-premiere performance onstage for family and friends at the end of the session!

DEPOSIT and REFUND POLICY

A $100 nonrefundable deposit is required at registration. This deposit applies towards tuition. Full payment must be made by June 1, 2024. Online purchases must be paid in full. To sign up and pay only the deposit at this time, call the DTC box office at 302-594-1100 weekdays between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. 

 

A $100 nonrefundable deposit is required at the time of registration to secure your slot in Summer on Stage Camp. Full payment is due by June 1, 2024. In the event DTC cancels a camp, registrant will be refunded all fees paid. In the event a registrant cancels, written notice must be provided to DTC by June 1, 2024; subsequent to this written notice, registrant will be refunded all fees paid except for the $100 nonrefundable deposit portion.
