EDUCATION SPONSORSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
For more than 30 years, DTC’s award-winning Education and Outreach Department has created ensemble-based programs that benefit students in schools throughout the state. These programs provide powerful experiences, taking students beyond simply watching theatre to becoming active participants in the processes of creating art, communicating and connecting with others, and reflecting upon their ideas and experiences.
STUDENT MATINEES
$20,000
The Student Matinee program connects students with professional theatre. Students and teachers attend a show chosen by the teacher. After the show, DTC hosts a Q&A between the audience and the actors, creating a full circle of theatre education about content and production.
SUMMER ON STAGE
$10,000
Our exploratory camp offers a unique blend of arts instruction and performance as a creative alternative to a child’s summer vacation. Campers will take part in classes in areas such as acting, movement, and stagecraft, and they will collaborate to create and perform original plays on the DTC stage. Summer on Stage camp consists of two three-week, full-day sessions.
TOTALLY AWESOME PLAYERS (TAP)
$5,000
The Totally Awesome Players (TAP) program and the TAP 2 ensemble employ acting skills and the creation of a play to increase the collaborative skills and active creativity of adults with intellectual disabilities. These troupes meet weekly, and participants create, write, rehearse, and perform a play. We present their original plays on DTC’s main stage at DTC and other venues throughout the state.
DELAWARE YOUNG PLAYWRIGHTS FESTIVAL
$2,500
DYPF provides students with an authentic audience for their creative writing while providing teachers with an innovative literacy program. Guided by passion and professionalism, DYPF uses educational resources, interactive workshops, personal feedback to every playwright, and public performances to engage students in the art of theatre through the act of writing a play. Both competitive and cooperative, DYPF fosters, respects, and celebrates the voices of young writers.
