Unleash your inner artist with an acting class at Delaware Theatre Company! Whether it's embracing spontaneity or refining your performance skills, our professional teaching artists strive to create a rich environment to help you explore the process of art. 




Get in line and step in time with this new musical theatre class for kids!  Learn simple songs and dances from Broadway and Disney favorites to share with family and friends!  Children of all experience levels are welcome in this recreational class that explores fundamentals of movement and dance as well as singing in an ensemble setting.  Each class period concludes with a sharing of the day’s work! 


Mondays, October 7-28, 2019   
6:30-7:15 p.m.

Note:  All children must be potty-trained.  A parent/adult caregiver must remain at Delaware Theatre Company through the duration of class.  No drop-offs or drop-ins.  Advanced registration required.  


Refund policy:  No refunds after the first class meeting.  Price is for all four class meetings.  No pro-rating.  Consistent attendance is strongly encouraged. 



Get ready for fun and collaboration as you explore the connections between acting and storytelling!  Using theatre games and exercises, learn and practice using the actor's tools of mind, body, and voice to portray characters and imaginative scenarios using fables, tall tales, scripted scenes, and various forms of literature as the source for your work.  Share your acting skills in a showcase for family and friends on the final day of class!

Build your skills and experience in auditioning for plays in this course that takes you through the planning, preparing, and performing processes of the audition!  Learn the actor's basic tools of the trade, including audition protocol, strategies for cold readings, and monologue preparation for an audition situation.  Share your works-in-progress in a "mock audition" showcase for family and friends on the final day of class.  Students with varying levels of experience in  theatre (including beginners!) are welcome.  Class size is limited--register now!

FOR ADULTS (Ages 18+) :


Are you ready to dive into the world of acting?  Take part in theatre exercises as well as basic script work designed to help you develop physical and vocal expression, explore the actor's process of examining a script, and lay the groundwork for further acting study.  A fun, collaborative, and supportive classroom environment will help you become comfortable working in front of others, yet there is plenty of individualized attention to help you move from where you are to the next level!  Beginners as well as those with some theatre experience are welcome.

Get on your feet and get on the stage with this series of classes in improvisational acting!  Whether you just want to try something new or have previous performing experience, you'll have fun as you build and polish your skills in improv!  In this fun, supportive atmosphere, learn techniques for using the actor's tools of mind, body, and voice to create characters, invent scenarios, and collaborate with others to mine the comic (or dramatic) potential of a scene!

Refund policy: In the event enrollment is full or DTC cancels a course, a full refund will be made. Partial refunds (tuition less $50 administrative fee) may be given if student gives written notice of withdrawal within three business days following the start of a course. After the third business day following the start of a course, tuition is non-refundable.


Attendance Policy: No make-up classes or reductions in fees are provided for students who miss class. Regular attendance and participation are strongly encouraged. No guests are admitted to observe except at specified showcase times.

Registration: In addition to online registration, you can call the box office at 302-594-1100, or the Education Department 302-594-1104 ext. 204 or 249.  Registration must be completed and all fees paid by three business days before the start of class.  Registrations and payments are not accepted at the door.  Thank you!
