Our Delaware Young Playwrights Festival continues to grow. During our 2017/2018 season, we engaged 80 student playwrights from 11 schools in all 3 Delaware counties. They created a grand total of 56 original plays!

Our strategic plan for the next five years reconfirms our commitment to strengthening our programming to better serve the community and thereby fulfill our mission.

Delaware Theatre Company remains committed to raising the visibility of Delaware as a cultural hub by becoming an influential regional theatre in the Northeast. We’re becoming a theatre that attracts the best actors, directors and designers in the industry. Broadway producers seek to try out new work that is Broadway-bound. Playwrights feel that their voices are heard—by an audience eager to engage—as is only possible in
live theatre. Delaware Theatre Company is striving to build the audiences of tomorrow by engaging with them today through Education and Community Engagement activities. The theatre is also committed to contributing to the economic vitality of the state of Delaware by attracting patrons to support local establishments and businesses on their visit to the theatre.

One of the best things about my experience of working with Bud at Delaware Theatre Company was that he took his role as artistic director very seriously and wanted to give his audience the most rewarding theatre experience possible.

–Duncan Sheik, composer of Because of Winn-Dixie

After developing three new works in the last nine months, it has become evident that Delaware Theatre Company must update and upgrade its equipment and infrastructure in order to continue developing these new ventures that raise the visibility of the theatre.

Now is the time to continue the momentum and increase the investment in Delaware Theatre Company.
