AND MAKE THE DIARY OF ANNE FRANK A SUCCESS!
AS ANNE FRANK SAYS IN HER DIARY, “When I write I shake off all my cares. But I want to achieve more than that. I want to be useful and bring enjoyment to all people, even those I’ve never met. I want to go on living even after my death.”
Of the books read as children, The Diary of Anne Frank continues to echo within most of us. Wendy Kesselman’s adaptation incorporates some newly discovered writings of Anne and Otto Frank, as well as other Holocaust survivor accounts. The result is a new play for a new generation as it literally pulls Anne off the pages of literature and turns her from an historic character into a real teenager. It is storytelling at its best: funny, beautiful, tragic and one of the most powerful accounts of a young heroine ever written.
The Diary of Anne Frank is also one of the most requested plays by public schools in the State of Delaware. Since announcing the DTC’s season, school groups have committed to a full week of student matinees—an unprecedented level of interest—and an opportunity that most children in Delaware public schools do not have often enough: the chance to see a professional production of an important piece of literature in their home state.
Please help keep that wish alive by becoming one of DTC’s “500 Friends” today by contributing $100 (or more) to help cover the costs of this fall’s production of The Diary of Anne Frank. We truly believe there are “500 Friends” in the local community who believe enough in the words of Anne Frank to help raise the funds necessary to produce this show.
