Nominations for World Premiere Production
Wilmington,
DE – August 17, 2006 –
Delaware Theatre Company received major accolades at the
announcement of
nominations for the 2006 Barrymore Awards for Excellence in
Theatre. DTC was honored with twelve total
nominations (a record for the theatre), ten of which are for
2006’s world
premiere of A Murder, A
Mystery & A Marriage: A Mark Twain Musical
Melodrama
by Aaron Posner and James Sugg (Corporate Producer Wilmington
Trust). The show’s ten nominations are
the most bestowed upon a single production.
“It is wonderful to be recognized for the hard work of this
past
season,
particularly the challenges of mounting a world premiere
musical,” says DTC’s
Producing Director Anne Marie Cammarato.
“I am also thrilled that the Theatre Alliance recognizes the
wonderful
community work of DTC’s Department of Education and Community
Engagement.” The following is a list of the total

Philadelphia's
theatre event of the year, the Annual Barrymore Awards for Excellence
in
Theatre is the region's only comprehensive theatre awards program,
recognizing
artists for excellence and innovation while serving to increase
awareness of
the richness of the local theatre community.
Over 100 productions produced by the Philadelphia region's professional
theatres are reviewed by the Barrymore nominating committee.
Barrymore Awards are presented to honor
excellence in acting, design, choreography, music, education, community
service
and lifetime achievement.
In
2004, DTC received a record seven Barrymore
Awards for Tazwell Thompson’s Constant Star and a total of
eleven
nominations. The Department of
Education and Community Engagement was also previously honored in 1999
for its
Youth at Risk programming. DTC also
received nominations for productions in 2005, 2002, 2001 and 2000.
Delaware Theatre
Company’s 2006-2007 season is sponsored by
JPMorgan Chase. Artist transportation provided by Amtrak. Programs are
made
possible, in part, by grants from the National Endowment for the Arts
and the
Delaware Division of the Arts, a state agency committed to promoting
and
supporting the arts in Delaware. The
Delaware Division of the Arts provides technical and financial
assistance to
artists and arts programs and serves as a clearinghouse for information
on the
arts.
