EDUCATION & COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

At DTC, we don’t just provide some of the best professional theatre in the region. We also take our skills and talents off of our stage and share them with our community. That’s why the Education Department is so important at DTC. On this page, you’ll find links to an incredible array of programs which show that at DTC – it’s not just a stage.

Youth at Risk

Totally Awesome Kids, our acting troupe for children and young adults with cognitive disabilities, gives these individuals a chance to perform and create that they otherwise wouldn’t have.

In our ground-breaking Arts Across the Curriculum program at Ferris School, a maximum security facility for boys, we are creating a program from the ground up that integrates arts throughout the curriculum.

Delaware Young Playwrights Festival

Delaware Young Playwrights Festival gives hundreds of students a chance to have their voices heard and to tell stories that are important to them.

Young Critics

Young Critics invites students to look deeper and uses DTC mainstage productions as a whetstone to sharpen their critical thinking.

Student Matinees

Student Matinees let thousands of students see professional theatre of the highest quality at a fraction of the cost.

Summer Camps and Theatre Classes

Our Summer on Stage summer camps and acting classes give kids and adults creative outlets and experiences outside of the normal classroom experience.  For adults, classes give people the chance to expand their skills or pursue a dream they’ve always wanted to make come true.

Connections

Connections: A Community Conversation expands on issues raised in our mainstage productions.  Because while it’s important that you enjoy the shows while you’re in theatre, it’s even more important to us that you’re able to take something with you that you can use out in the world.
